News and Notices

During 2022 North Bay Pickleball Club is operating for the summer months using courts provided by the city. At this time there is no charge to join NBPC and you can do so by contacting Pickleball Canada and joining there. In that way you will receive occasional communications from the club.

200916 THERE IS NO ORGANIZED PLAY SINCE MARCH 2020

The club’s committee is actively seeking venues for indoor play that will let us start up again safely. ideally play could start late October or November. Stay tuned for updates as they are available.

If you know of any suitable space available in North Bay, please send us an email and tell us about it. We can add new opportunities to those that we are already working on.

200630 Opportunities to Play during Hiatus

In case you were not aware, there are two “new” outdoor pickleball courts at the Granite Club that can be used for the rest of the season.  Membership, payable to the Granite Club, is $100 or you can pay 6$ per day.  Strong support for these courts will go a long way to showing the Granite Club and the city that we need PURPOSE BUILT OUTDOOR COURTS here in the ‘Bay.

John Halliday is organizing the play there starting a “skinny singles” challenge ladder there in the next week.  Skinny singles is a modified form of pickleball, using half the court for each point.  It is MUCH easier on the body than full singles and is a great way to help you improve your soft game.

This is for ALL skill levels, from beginner to advanced. You can challenge a player two spots ahead of you on the ladder, which allows beginner players (and tennis players!) a chance to play and learn the game against better opponents.  New players can join the ladder after we start, which I hope to run to the end of August, by challenging someone of similar skill level.

Cost is $5 to help pay for new balls, and details should be posted in the clubhouse shortly.  Hope to start next weekend.

So, if you are interested, send me your name, phone number and email and I will add you to the list.  I will eventually post this information in the club house so players can arrange their games at a mutual agreeable day and time.
**For all who are interested in this please contact John directly at halliday5388@gmail.com. John is also copied here.**

A second playing opportunity is at Tweedsmuir courts in East Ferris where the city has opened the courts for use by the public. At this time NBPC does not have specific times at Tweedsmuir but a number of players have been arranging games there.

200313 NBPC Activities in Hiatus.

As the COVID-19 situation is forecast to become more severe NBPC is ceasing it’s activities and play at all locations with immediate effect.

The news and fast changing situation with respect to the Covid-19 pandemic affects us directly as schools, colleges and universities are closed and as we each take precautions to avoid exposure to those who may be infected. We don’t want to be responsible for spreading the virus anymore than we want to contract illness from exposure.

We will keep this site up to date and get things going again as soon as is prudent.

I love that you can start enjoying competitive games with others of similar experience right away. Everyone was very supportive and I enjoyed learning the game by playing it. Other players are supportive but competitive generating a very healthy environment.
